spirit legend Reviews
A GREAT READ!!!I fell for the story right away. I liked the sci-fi twist to it and enjoyed the flow of the romance between the main characters. I enjoyed the nature feel to the story as well.If you like YA, Romance, or Sci-fi, this is defiantly a good book for you. I'm going to look forward to reading more from this author!
2.5 stars. I found this book offered for free on Amazon. I enjoyed the combination of supernatural and romance. I appreciated the fact that the sex scene was off camera and between adults (Though it is annoying when little things like pregnancy, STD's and emotional impact from commitment free sex are ignored. I'm aware enough of the modern world that these kind of interactions are less then romantic. I just always think of all the nasty diseases they are spreading, or the problems that come from an unplanned pregnancy). The biggest thing I had a hard time with we're some of the details. I read the book before reading the synopsis, so it took me much longer then it should have to figure out that the main character was a woman. I also didn't figure out her name for quite a while and where the story took place (if I had been paying attention the clues where there, but it was a good way into the book before Minnesota was mentioned). If some of these specifics were made clearer I think it would have been easier to enjoy this book.
This was a sweet and quick read about the hunt for a legendary spirit. The story revolves around a forester by the name of Charlie and her employer Ian. Although Charlie is intimidated by Ian, sparks soon fly as they try to find prove that a spirit lives within the tiny lake owned by Ian’s company. My favorite parts of the book were the sections told from the point of view of the spirit. They were intriguing and I enjoyed the observations of the being’s surroundings. The author did a wonderful job of portraying the natural beauty of the forest and lake.Charlie and Ian are adorable together and I liked the development of their relationship. The only thing lacking in that area was I would’ve liked to see more showing instead of telling. This is a good genre-bending book for readers of romance and fantasy novels.
I really enjoyed this read. Not only is the author masterfully skilled in writing, but her style and story telling are completely unique. She doesn't spell EVERYTHING out for the reader. It requires the reader to have just the right amount of imagination, which I very much appreciated and I also believe speaks for its universality. It was intriguing, sexy and never slowed down. I disagree with what a previous reviewer said about some of the sentence structures. I didn't have problems reading it at all, and actually enjoyed the puns and sentence fragments. Overall, for storyline, writing style and romance... this story was totally refreshing compared to many of the contemporary romance novels out there right now.
A paranormal story from the heart about a couple thrown together by work that get stranded in the woods by a storm that plows down trees and knocks out roads. They end up by a small lake with an ancient spirit living in the bottom of it. They slowly come to realize that the spirit is much more than just colored lights and musical melodies.
I enjoyed this book not only because it was written well, but because a beautiful nature spirit is one of the key characters... so important for us to remember and pay attention to in this time. I could hardly wait to find out what was going to happen, and I would like to read more stories like this... for me it captured the essence of life today.
