www.iheart-chicklit.blogspot.comIf you're a fan of summer reads, you've probably heard of Lucy Lord's books. Her debut novel, Revelry was such a thrill to read and when she offered me a copy of A Girl Called Summer, I knew I couldn't resist!A Girl Called Summer follows the story of a group of friends, who were introduced to us in the first book of the series, Revelry. Bella and Andy are hoping to start a new life, away from the hustle and bustle in London, so where else would they get their retreat besides the sunny temptations of Ibiza? Tamara Gold is no young starlet. She's been overexposed by everyone she knows and despite her painful past, she's now doing well for herself, but when she arrives in Ibiza, she feels her resolves wane.. Then there's a girl called Summer. She's every guy's dream come true and every girl's envy but beneath her gorgeous exterior lies a sweet girl. It's going to be a summer to remember when Bella's friends from Hollywood make a trip to enjoy the Ibizan sun!Don't worry if you've not been following the series, because A Girl Called Summer could definitely a standalone. It's such a fabulous summer read, I couldn't help but fall in love with the book. Set in the sunny, inviting Ibiza, I wanted to pack my bags and meet Bella and the gang! This book is everything you want in a summer vacation - filled with beautifully described surroundings, delicious delicacies and romance. A Girl Called Summer screams "summertime fabness!".The characters were wonderfully written. I felt they were such a likeable bunch, especially the protagonist, Summer Larsson who is such a sweetheart! I couldn't help but warm to her immediately. Another thing I warmed up really quickly was Lucy Lord's flair in writing. I loved her humour, warmth and hearth in her writing as well as her wittiness. Sharp, funny and totally engrossing!A Girl Called Summer is a tantalisingly delicious read. Escape to the beautiful and always sunny Ibiza with this gem and you'll know what I mean when I say it's pure escapism in the form of a paperback. Sexy, scandalous and hugely satisfying, you shouldn't miss Lucy Lord's new one as it's so good! If you'd like to know more about the sunny Summer Larsson, here's a guest post by Lucy on my blog!

Bella and Andy have escaped in search of a relaxed lifestyle on the sunny island of Ibiza, but with a run down house to make a home, will island life life be all it seems? Summer Larsson has always known Ibiza as her home, and sometimes it’s been lonely. But in Bella she has found the friend she’s always needed, and when Bella’s friends come along to visit, she may have found love as well…I thoroughly enjoyed that in A Girl Called Summer, we met up again with Bella and Andy! I had missed them and always wondered about Bella so it was exciting to catch up with them and be with them as they started their new life in Ibiza. And what a place to have a new start! This really is Summer in a book ! Lucy Lord is such a talented writer and with her descriptions effortlessly manages to transport her readers to her stunning locations in her novels. It genuinely felt like I had boarded a plane to Ibiza and stepped off of the plane into the glorious sunshine I could feel the warmth of the sun, I could sense the brilliant atmosphere and I could see the beautiful beaches in front of me.Summer is exactly like her name – such a wonderful character and person – I really enjoyed reading about her, and I desperately want Summer for a friend. Summer’s friendship with Bella was one of my absolute FAVOURITE aspects of this book – I loved the interactions between them and the close bond that they had! Their friendship and closeness had me smiling lots.I also feel like I NEED to mention Jack here – ladies you will SWOON over this gorgeous man! What started as a tiny crush has now exploded into full on love! I don’t even want to say any more than that because I want you to all experience everything for the first time and fall in love with all of the characters the way I have. This book is full of some dramatic moments and tackles some issues, but it is also fun and summery and will put SUCH a smile on your face! Not only do we meet up again with Bella, but we see the return of Poppy and friends too! A Girl Called Summer is the perfect escapism wherever you are this summer – so whether you pack it in your holiday bag, or curl up with it at home – read and enjoy being immersed in this fantastic story!

I am loving all the Summer reads out this year, all these gorgeous covers are calling out to me and A Girl Called Summer by Lucy Lord is no exception. I was a little worried about reading this book as I have read Revelry but I haven’t read Vanity but luckily having now finished this book I can tell you that although the book has the previous characters in this book it can still easily be read as a standalone book but hey why not treat yourself to the others to get to know the characters first ( yes you have guessed it I have just brought Vanity!)Bella and Andy have uprooted and moved to Ibiza with their adorable daughter Daisy. As they embark on the restoration they need things to hurry along as their good friends Poppy, Ben, Jack, Damien and Natalia are coming out for a visit and Bella is eager to impress her high flying friends.Summer knows Ibiza like the back of her hand and she soon strikes up a solid friendship with Bella and she is looking forward to the arrival of Bella’s friends but she never could have guessed that the pool party would change her life. This was so hard to put down as there was always some new drama occurring on the next page! It is a Summery Sexy and Scandalous read with some absolutely crazy and fun characters. Summer is a great character who despite some trying times in the past is such an energetic live wire who just seems to love life and she was a perfect main character along with her lovely friend Bella who is a little mellower but still someone you would want as a friend. But the one character who had me hot under the collar had to be Jack. There is a hell of a lot of characters in this book so it did take me a while to get to grips with who was who and who was with who. There is something for everyone in this book, it covers some more delicate and emotional topics as well as have that modern vibrant storyline too with scandal, drugs, romance and sex. The sex scenes were very tame and just a lot of OH GOD and FUCK ME rather than graphic steamy scenes so if you are after a total bonk buster this isn’t for you!I will definitely be reading more by this author ( Vanity next!) make sure this book is on your holiday TBR pile this Summer.

I think this book is better read in summer time. It just makes me want to go to Ibiza now. It's a simple book, but i did find there to be so many characters, it was hard at times remembering who was who. Their background and stories. And everyone seemed to know each other.Theres a lot of detail of the island which makes it sound really awesome to go to, i've never been. But parts of the story seemed way OTT and so extreme. Also, some of the explicit nature at times, wasn't what i was expecting. Made me giggle then cringe in parts as it just didn't seem this kinda book. I was thinking more cute, girly summer read.Favourite character was probably summer, typically. She's just sweet, kinda, blond and great. I even like Tamara, even her diva-ness times. Read it with an open mind, it is a good book.

I read this unputdownable book within a few consecutive days. The perfect holiday read! Lucy Lord’s writing style is flawless: descriptive from the settings, the characters clothing, even down to the food they eat making everything easy to picture. The characters come to life, with Lucy switching from each of their POV’s. The story location (Ibiza) is explained in depth enabling you to get a real feel for the place. I highly recommend this book. If you haven’t got the advantage of reading it at the beach, this summery novel will make you want to book a holiday (preferably Ibiza) and fast! Brilliantly written! The PERFECT escapism read!It was a pleasure reading Lucy Lord’s book and interviewing her for my blog. She is an extremely talented author and I look forward to reading more of her books.
