Chasing Danger Reviews
Grant's writing jumps off the page, grabs you, and won't let you go. I loved this novel from start to finish. The rapid-paced story keeps you guessing from beginning to end. Chase Armstrong is dumped in the Maldives to spend a few months with a grandmother she didn't know she had. The stakes climb high when the island is captured by pirates! It's up to Chase to save the day. I loved the main character, she's quirky, smart, brave, and has a tongue like a whip. I can't wait to read her next adventure.
Dad and I really enjoyed reading this book
A enjoyable book with a funny, feisty heroine that you definitely want to see more of!
Almost read this in one sitting! Fast and exciting
Originally posted on www.serendipityreviews.co.ukI think I might need a holiday after reading this book. There is so much explosive action in it, I'm exhausted. Chase barely has time to snorkel through the coral reef before the modern day pirates attack the beach. Thanks to the super training by her Dad, Chase is ready to deal with what happens next. Alongside Mackenzie's extensive computer knowledge, they pull off some Charlie's Angels style action. Every chapter, you think Chase and Mackenzie are going to be OK and then Wham! It goes horribly wrong. These two have serious girl power and I loved them both. Who needs boys when girls can rock all by themselves?Sara Grant's comical timing is spot on. The first few chapters had me crying with laughter before I realised something dangerous was about to happen. You can tell the Sara Grant really enjoyed writing this novel. The island is to die for. I'm thinking the author had first hand experience of it, because the details had me desperate to grab my suitcase and passport.Sara Grant has shown how easily she can jump from YA to MG to Early Chapter Books. She makes it look as easy as flicking your hair! I look forward to reading more about Chase's kick ass adventures in the near future. I might need to get some warmer clothes though because I've a feeling we are heading for colder climates in the next book.
Chase (Charlotte) has been left on a tropical island to stay with a grandmother she has never met. She is hoping her grandma will be kind and welcoming but is disappointed. Chase soon meets Mackenzie, a computer whiz who is just as friendly as her grandmother – NOT!But Chase's navy dad has taught her to be strong, self-sufficient and resourceful, so she tries to make the best of things. These skills are soon needed when the island is invaded by modern day pirates. They are looking for a princess among the wealthy island guests and don’t intend to leave anyone alive. This is Girl Power to the max! Full of action, humour and an intriguing family back story, Chasing Danger is the first in a series.
It's all here: a witty, charming and courageous main character, an exotic location, an intriguing mystery, plenty of thrillingly exciting and adrenalin-filled fight scenes, a super-smart side-kick turned best friend, an enigmatic and glamorous grandmother and a satisfying emotional central story -- what else could you possibly want?! This is a cleverly revamped and modernised twist on Charlie's Angels -- strong young women who confront the dangerous situations they find themselves in with intelligence and courage and some impressive kick-ass moves. The violence is handled confidently and never overwhelms the story which has such real heart at its centre. It's also laugh-out-loud funny.Young Bond may have met his match in Chase and Mackenzie. I can't wait for the next installment...
Super fast paced and lots of fun, CHASING DANGER had me on the edge of my seat guessing how Chase would get out of each tight squeeze. I love a strong young mc and Chase doesn't disappoint. She's funny and sarcastic and smart. And I loved Mackenzie, too. The two of them get into lots of trouble in totally excellent ways. Was glued to the page until the very end!
It was good not excellent but good. Can't wait for book 2!
